Anxiety

No more Anxiety. Never be afraid of visiting the dentist again

If you are afraid of the dentist, it may be reassuring to hear that you are not the only one. While it is obviously wise to visit the dentist regularly, no one enjoys going to the dentist. Some people suffer greatly from their fear of going to the dentist. Still, even with this fear, it is important not to let it stop you from getting regular checkups.

It is wise to inform us about your anxiety. This is best done during the first intake interview but, of course, also prior to treatment. This way, we can put you even more at ease. You do not have to be afraid that we will immediately start treatment at the first check-up appointment. Only a non-intrusive dental check-up and x-rays will be performed during this appointment.

By listening carefully to you, we can ensure that you experience as little inconvenience as possible during a check-up or treatment. We are also happy to spend extra time going through the treatment step by step. For most people, fear arises mainly from the thought of drilling and the numbing injection that precedes it. That’s why it’s nice to know that most treatments these days are, fortunately, completely painless! We can prevent pain very well during treatment by using the latest technologies. In addition, we can apply a light local anaesthetic if necessary.

There’s no need to feel ashamed or embarrassed!

In addition, we would like to emphasize how important it is that you do not let yourself be deterred from visiting our practice if you feel embarrassed about the condition of your teeth. We are of course ready to help you and reassure you.

Tips to make your visit to the dentist as pleasant as possible

Please tell us about your anxiety
Don’t be afraid to ask how your dentist can adequately take your needs into account.

Go to your appointment as relaxed as possible
Do some relaxing breathing exercises beforehand and avoid coffee and other drinks that contain caffeine.

Ensure that you’re distracted during the treatment
Bring some extra magazines, listen to your favourite music or podcast, or ask a family member or friend to accompany you.

Anxiety in children

Fear of the dentist is also common among children. In children, this fear can be prevented as much as possible by taking them to the dentist as early as possible. This can be done before they have to come to the practice for a check-up or treatment, for example by taking them with you to your own dental appointments. This way you help your child get used to the environment, while they can playfully gain positive associations with a visit to the dental practice. Children are very welcome to attend your dental appointments and can get to know our staff, practice and of course the movable chair in a playful way!
